For years, a broken and biased system has been fuelling the huge housing crisis in Scotland. Every day, it causes devastating homelessness. Fixing the problem is simple: build more social homes. But the Government has still not taken action.
Together with Shelter Scotland, we set out to show the Government that the solution to homelessness is so simple, even a kid can get it.
The challenge
The Government has continuously ignored calls to fix the housing crisis. When pushed to take action, they throw out smoke and mirrors, give empty statements and dodge culpability. All this dancing around the problem is distracting people from how simple it is to fix. We had to make the solution so clear that no one, even the Government, could hide from it.
The solution
So, rather than accepting any grey areas or responses that dance around our question, we thought: let’s find someone out there who can give us a straight answer.
Thankfully, kids don’t tend to mince their words, so we asked them what they thought we should do to fix homelessness. And, surprise, surprise, they got straight to the point. If even a child can give a straight answer on how to fix the problem, it’s about time we did something about it, don’t you think?
